You know that nagging feeling you get when you’re dating one half of a pair of identical twin siblings? That feeling of “I can’t quite put my finger on it, but for some reason I find the other sibling more attractive.” No? Well me neither, but if I had to guess how it felt, it would probably be the same way that I feel about The Last of Us Remastered, except Remastered is clearly the better looking of the two.

Shovel Knight is a Kickstarter game, funded in April of 2013, released for the PC, 3DS and Wii U. The Kickstarter campaign was wildly successful by capitalizing on the internet’s nostalgia and love for the classic action platformers of their childhood.

I was once washed in the warm glow of Nintendo’s flashing images of yesteryear; yet I have never held a candle for what was lost. And at the start Shovel Knight I was determined to force the brave crusader of excavation to stand on his own, in today’s modern gaming environment, without the support from his friends from the past.

The Playstation 4 took up residence in my beautiful TV stand the day it was released, but has since been collecting dust, minus a few games of Tomb Raider from Jay. Since obtaining our code to try out the Destiny beta, however, the console most likely considered suicide this past weekend as the both of us powered through this incredibly enjoyable game.
